How to Setup TouchID on your iPad

Although TouchID has been around for a long time on the iPhone and older iPad models, this is the first time that Apple has embedded the sensor into the power button.
TouchID can be used to unlock your iPad instead of typing out your passcode. It can also be used to make purchases in the App Store, Apple Books, or the iTunes store.
If you didn’t turn on fingerprint recognition when you first set up your iPad, go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode.
Turn on any of the options, then follow the onscreen instructions.
Add a fingerprint
You can add multiple fingerprints (both of your thumbs and forefingers, for example).
Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode.
Tap Add a Fingerprint.
Follow the onscreen instructions.
Name or delete a fingerprint
Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode.
On iPad (10th generation), iPad mini (6th generation), and iPad Air (4th generation and later): Rest a finger on the top button.
Tap the fingerprint, then enter a name (such as “Thumb”) or tap Delete Fingerprint.
Turn off Touch ID
Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode, then turn off one or more of the options.
