BECC Collaboration Space Quickstart

There are several collaboration spaces on each floor of the BECC that can be used by students either for independent study or as part of group exercises during class.

Chiefly, there are two different types of collaboration spaces. These types are enclosed (e.g. 3004) and open (e.g. 3002) where there are several chairs, a table, and a TV with control and HDMI on the wall.

These spaces have 1 of 2 types of control surfaces. Either they are controlled via a panel on the desk or by a panel on the wall. These are pictured below.

Both of these panels allow you to control the monitor power, volume, and display.

On the wall panel, you control what is being displayed via the buttons at the top and the volume and power via the buttons across the bottom.

Note: The buttons along the top are for laptop HDMI and Solstice, from right to left.

When using the panel located on the desks in collaboration spaces, you control what is being displayed with the buttons in the bottom left corner. Power is in the top right corner, and volume is along the right side.

In the open spaces, you connect your laptop via the panel in the wall, usually found under the monitor.

You also have a USB for power and Ethernet for connecting to the internet if you don’t have a wireless connection.

Within the enclosed spaces, you connect via the extension cables located in the desk. Each port is labeled in the image below.

Solstice in these spaces looks the same as that found in classrooms and gives you instructions for connecting/sharing to the monitor wirelessly. As well as a 4 digit code along with the IP address in the bottom left corner.

Note: For more information on Solstice, refer to the Solstice Guide.
