The AV tech in the BECC varies somewhat. Below you will find detailed descriptions of the technology available to you by room type:

Typical Labs

There are two types of Non-TEAL Labs:

Lab Type 1:

This lab is traditional in audiovisual design but supports group work on the primary display. There is a projection screen for the instructor with program audio speakers. There is a boundary microphone and ceiling speakers for voice lift. The instructor station has a document camera, laptop connection (HDMI), Mersive Solstice (wireless video presentation tool), instructor's pc, and annotation capability. Students can connect to the primary display wirelessly via Mersive Solstice. The room supports 4K 60 content and is HDCP 2.2 compliant. The room is equipped with ADA compliant assistive listening devices for the hearing impaired.

Lab Type 2:

This lab is traditional in audiovisual design but supports group work on the primary display. There is a projection screen for the instructor with program audio speakers and a camera/microphone array for lecture capture and web conferencing.

There are also TEAL (Technology Enhanced Active Learning) Rooms and Labs

TEAL Lab:

This lab can be classified as a TEAL room (technology enhanced active learning) as it is designed so that students can work in groups using independent displays. The instructor can moderate student interactions with audiovisual technology from the instructor's station. There are 4 wall mounted displays for group work and a projection screen with program audio speakers for the instructor. There is a boundary microphone and ceiling speakers for voice lift. The instructor station has a document camera, laptop connection (HDMI), Mersive Solstice (wireless video presentation tool), instructor's pc, and annotation capability. The instructor has the ability to preview and share content that students are working on in their groups. The instructor can also push various types of content independently to the student displays. Students can connect to their displays wirelessly via Mersive Solstice or through an HDMI connection. The room supports 4K 60 content and is HDCP 2.2 compliant. The room is equipped with ADA compliant assistive listening devices for the hearing impaired.

Typical TEAL Room (Pod Style):

BECC TEAL rooms (technology enhanced active learning) are designed so that students can work in groups using independent displays. The instructor can moderate student interactions with audiovisual technology from the instructor's station. Depending on the room size, there are 4 to 8 wall mounted displays for group work and a projection screen with program audio speakers for the instructor. There is a boundary microphone and ceiling speakers for voice lift. Wireless microphones are included in our larger TEAL rooms for voice lift as well. Several of our TEAL rooms have a microphone array and PTZ cameras for lecture capture and web conferencing. Instructor stations have a document camera, laptop connection (HDMI), Mersive Solstice (wireless video presentation tool), instructor's pc, and annotation capability. Instructors have the ability to preview and share content that students are working on in their groups. Instructors can also push various types of content independently to the student displays. Students can connect to their displays wirelessly via Mersive Solstice or through an HDMI connection. While only the primary display has dedicated annotation hardware, student groups are not left out as the Solstice App provides annotation and laser pointer functionality for every display. TEAL Rooms support 4K 60 content and is HDCP 2.2 compliant. TEAL Rooms are also equipped with ADA compliant assistive listening devices for the hearing impaired.

Typical Lecture Focused (Normal Classroom):

BECC Lecture Focused classrooms are designed with traditional lecture style teaching in mind but do support collaborative group work on the primary display. There is a projection screen for the instructor with program audio speakers. There is a boundary microphone and ceiling speakers for voice lift. Wireless microphones are included in our larger Lecture Focused rooms for voice lift as well. Several of our Lecture Focused rooms have a microphone array and PTZ cameras for lecture capture and web conferencing. The instructor station has a document camera, laptop connection (HDMI), Mersive Solstice (wireless video presentation tool), instructor's pc, and annotation capability. Students can connect to the primary display wirelessly via Mersive Solstice. Lecture Focused rooms support 4K 60 content and is HDCP 2.2 compliant. Lecture Focused rooms are also equipped with ADA compliant assistive listening devices for the hearing impaired.
