Visual Guides for Multifactor Authentication

Last Update 2 years ago

The following guides were created to visually assist you through the process of enrolling and authenticating with MFA, as well as removing your account from RapidIdentity in the event that you need to be re-enrolled due to a forgotten PIN code.

PingMe (Push Notification)

The quickest way to authenticate using RapidIdentity is through the PingMe or push notification method.  This method requires that you have a wireless connection or cellular data connection.

Android

iPhone

*If the PingMe option fails, click the Cancel button and try again using TOTP.

Temporary One-Time Password (TOTP)

The other method of authentication using RapidIdentity is through the temporary one-time password (TOTP) method.  This method uses random codes generated every 30 seconds. These codes can be used regardless of whether or not you have a wireless or cellular data connection.

iPhone

In the event that you have forgotten your RapidIdentity PIN code, contact the Service Desk at (309) 677-2964.  We will remove you from the MFA enforcement group so that you can access your email and sign in to websites without MFA.

You will need to take the following steps to re-enroll in MFA:

1. Open the RapidIdentity App on your Android device or iPhone.

2. Android users will need to tap and hold on the account name and choose delete as shown in the following video:

3. iPhone users will need to swipe from right to left on the account and select delete as show in the following video:

4. Open your email and copy the authorization code from the new enrollment email.

5. Copy that code, then tap on the link in the next step and paste the code into the app. (If the app does not take you to the field to paste your Authorization Code, please tap the link in the email again.

6. Set up a new PIN code that you will remember, such as your birthdate or other significant series of numbers, between 6-9 digits.

7. Once completed, please let the Service Desk know so that we enforce MFA for your account again.
