How can I tell if the wired/wireless network is down, or if it's just my device?

If you cannot connect to the wired or wireless network here at Bradley University, there are several things to consider before contacting the IT Service Desk to report a network outage.

  • If you can connect wirelessly to BUsecure, but you cannot reach the internet, there is most likely an issue with our Internet Provider. In 99.99% of cases, the network administrators are aware of this issue and are working with the provider to restore connection.
  • Check with a friend or neighbor to see if they are also having issues connecting:
  • If they are connected to the network, there is a configuration issue with your device.
  • If they are unable to connect to the network as well, there is most likely a network outage or maintenance.

In any event, we do encourage you to report any and all technical issues to the IT Service Desk. You can report these issues by calling us at (309) 677-2964 during regular hours of operation (see our website for hours). You can also create a ticket by emailing [email protected] or by logging in to our Service Desk Self-Support portal and completing the support form. These are the preferred methods of contact after-hours.
